Day 8 Sept 15 Island in the Sky visitor center to Green River KOA
Braun and I did our usual walk of a couple miles around the campground, a leisurely breakfast, shower, and packing up. We even listened to the Kiwanis meeting this morning. On our way out of Moab my only regret is that we didn't get to ride the lovely bike path we see by the road. It even compares work the nice ones in Europe. That is a rarity on the US.
we are back in Canyonlands going to the Island in the Sky visitor center. The visitor center was a maze of people and no place to park so we went on to the first overlook. Again crowded and no parking.
Mesa Arch trailhead no parking. Upheaval Dome one car sized spot no RV spots and the road lined with cars for half a mile. We are guessing that with the road closed to the Needles visitor center all the traffic came here. We were able to go to the Needles visitor center by going around the long way and were pleasantly surprised that it was not crowded. Now we found the crowd. We found a few places to pull out see the awesomeness. We were able to stop at the Green River overlook which is pretty impressive.
We pulled off the road into the dirt at Buck canyon overlook because all the places were full. Lovely scenery.
Grandview point was too congested to find parking. We're going to try again for the visitor center. We got in and supported the economy at the visitor center. I found a tree work lots of animals in it that will be for Cody's first birthday.
We made it to Green River and got checked in they said there's a festival in town and there very full, later when we went to dinner we saw a piece of watermelon going by on a truck. I guess they're is a parade on Saturday.
