Day 18 Sept 25 homeward bound.

Image
We were going to stay in bullhead city another night, but we wanna go home. Going for my usual morning walk. Starting for home at 9am, 340 miles to go. I feel so naked w/o my fit bit watch. We stoped in Blythe for lunch it's 105°. I had to wrestle with Brian to try to get his shoes on so he could go out to pee. After all that effort he didn't pee. By the Klamath dunes it's 110 outside. Paul is bleeding a little bit of pressure out of the right side rear tires ones at 80 and ones at 79 all the others seem to be within range. We stopped in a free dump station just west of El Centro that even had water. So the tank dumping is all done. It's still 110 outside. 2 hrs from home. In Pine Valley the road is wet. I guess they're had been some rain. Oooo a bit farther on, it's sprinkling. Now it's really raining. Good the RV needs a bath. Good get all the bugs off. We are in full sun with heavy rain. Wierd. Rain all gone by Descanso. 92 in Alpi...

Day 17 Sept 24 to Bullhead City

Image
Braun and I did our usual walk. We are done seeing the sights planned on our trip now we start the trek home. Our goal today is Bullhead City by Laughlin. Somehow my seat broke. The seat control lets it move forward and backward, but not for sit up and recline. It is very reclined so I had to open the door to allow it to swivel to face forward and am using 2 pillows to allow me to sit up.   I tried to book our harvest host in Brawley at Dessert Olive Farms but they have no availability. They book events on weekends. So we think we will just come home tomorrow. It will be a long travel day. And if it's late and we are tired we may stop somewhere. We pulled into Laughlin and it's 106 degrees. We set up and watched some TV, and later went to the pool. When we got out of the pool I noticed my watch was black. Tried you tube videos and the for bit help line.... Damn. This one lasted longer than any one I've had before though. It's still over 100. Goin...

Day 16 Sept 23 to Vermillion Cliffs, Navajo Bridge, Wapaki NM Sunset Crater to Flagstaff

Image
Braun and I did our mornings walk. I could really see how if there wasn't a trail I could get lost so easy. I had Braun wear his little shoes today because the ground has pretty sharp rocks in parts. We left the campground around 9, we meant to stop at Jacob Lake inn to get more of the fabulous cookies, but we forgot.  I got a call from Misty and got to talk to her for half an hour before we lost signal. We drove down from 9k ft, to 4k ft and were on the big flat plain we saw from above yesterday. We drove thru Vermillion Cliffs National Monument. these are the Vermillion Cliffs And Navajo Bridge interpretive center, and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. well...Duh We stopped in Cameron for lunch, then on to Wupatki  Wupatki NM is a Pueblo from 800 yrs ago. We stopped at Wupatki visitor center and I got the stamps and stickers f...

Day 15 Sept 22 North rim Grand Canyon

Image
Braun foot was better so he came with me on our morning walk. if we get back early enough I'm hoping to do it again with Paul. It was a nice little hike. This is the view from our campsite. Braun is not liking coming into the RV so we put his therapy dog vest on that has a nice handle on the back and we can lift him into the RV. It rained a bit last evening but is beautiful crisp and just a few puffy clouds today. On the way up to Grand canyon we passed Big areas that had burned out but also parts that were not burned and a huge meadow and lovely forest, but no critters. The aspens are changing brilliantly! When we got up to Grand canyon we saw some deer in the forest. We got to wander around near the visitor center for a bit and talk to one of the rangers who knew Lauren. Then we wandered around some more and found the lodge and put out names on the list for lunch. We met u...

Day 14 Sept 21 Pipe Spring NM, to Jacob Lake AZ

Image
I had to leave Braun home when I went for my walk because he was limping on his r front foot. Today we leave Utah and return to Arizona.  Stopping at Pipe Spring NM. The weather report says a lot of rain and flash flooding, but so far it's dry for us.  I really wish we could have slowed down our trip a little bit and stayed an extra two or three days in Bryce Zion and Canyonland. we decided to go to Kanab because we have time on our hands. Found some lovely murals. we stopped in The visitor center to hopefully get the sticker for Red canyon since the visitor center was closed when we went through there, but they only had the big ones Bryce and Zion and Grand canyon and Glen canyon. We planned lunch on Fredonia, but there was absolutely no restaurants. So on to Jacob Lake, there is suppose...
