Day 5 Sept 12 Navajo NM, Monument Valley KOA
We took a 2-mile walk with the doggie this morning had breakfast and packed up to leave. Paul's sugar was 98. That is the lowest it has been in a long time. We tried to contact Lauren's husband Nick but he was off duty. Nancy said to text Lauren now for when we're going to be on the north rim. So we did that but we haven't heard back yet. We hear she had spotty phone service.
And then to Monument Valley
On our walk today we saw our resident elk and one deer. After we started driving there was a bunch of people stopped at the side of the road. A bunch more elk lying down. As we left the park we saw a coyote crossing the road. He was too fast to get a picture.
On thru the desert. The lovely patterns in the cliff are amazing.
We had lunch in Tuba City. They charged us a junk food tax because we ordered fried food. Paul had a chimichanga, and I had a Navajo taco. Then on to Navajo national monument.
We found our koa. No pool, no wifi. Time for laundry. 3 washers,1 broken 2 in use. Paul didn't like our spot because our door opens into a fence. They wanted to charge more to change. He got them to wave it. Lots of flies, and hot.
We went walking around the camp and met our neighbors. Many are from out of the country. We met some from Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, also some from the U.S. namely Michigan.
