Day 3 Sept 10 Peach Springs to Grand Canyon Village

My plan of the day is a dog walk and then a dip in the pool before we go.

It didn't quite work that way. Braun didn't want to come outside, do I did the first lap without him. Then he was all excited to come walk in 80 degrees with a lot of humidity with me. I went 2.5 miles 6700 steps. I didn't go to the pool it was not open yet, but showered in the rig. I got to practice dumping the tanks, and filling the water. Paul filled the r front tire which had dropped to 50, it's supposed to be 60-70psi.

    We took route 66, ended up in Seligman at the Road Kill Cafe.

We think we made a mistake coming to this restaurant we've been waiting an hour and still don't have our food. Along with others who have been waiting an hour. The manager is going to give us 10% discount for the delay. They're are 3 waitresses and 3 cooks, this is not right. We are on the patio and it has started sprinkling.  It started raining and Braun and I went to the RV, Paul got our food ad we ate in the RV. The wind and rain kicked up pretty good.

Now it's raining heavy. It stopped about an hour later.

We made it to Grand Canyon.

Shortly after entering the park we saw a young elk actually there were several through the trees but we only got a picture of one.

A little farther on

We went to the visitor center but it was closed, the book store was open so I got my stamp and sticker. We walked out to Mather Point and took a look at the big hole in the ground.

the last one you can see all the way down to the river.  There were stupid people climbing on rocks and behind the fences for "the perfect shot". I wish there was someone out there to fine them. At a hundred bucks a pop it would be quite the money maker.  When we asked the Rangers they said it is not illegal to cross the barriers, only dumb.   Paul got a t-shirt. I got post cards for the grand girls. Then we went to find the campground. It was tucked away, Not very visable. Paul got us level and I built the clam escape bug shelter. I set up a table and chairs on a mat. We had dinner then planned our attack for tomorrow. We hope to start out with the bikes. And then do a tram bus tour. You can't drive around here.
